Stamford Tennis Club’s U12 Boys win against Sleaford  12-0

The Stamford team received a warm welcome and enjoyed some delicious ‘date and cherry rocky road’ when we visited Sleaford Tennis Club on Saturday 21st May 2016.

The day was warm with blustery winds, but the rain obligingly held off for the duration of the match. First on court were Will and Edward for their singles rubbers whilst Flynn and Gabriel united to play their doubles rubber. Will gave a strong performance winning 6-0, 6-0; whilst Edward, performing true to form, managed to keep  play going for one and three-quarter hours, before finally securing his win in a nail biting 3rd set tie break 11-9. Flynn and Gabriel continued to build upon their experience from their previous doubles match, winning 6-3, 6-1.

After taking the opportunity to refuel, the players started the second half of the match with Stamford ahead 3 rubbers to nil. Flynn and Gabriel moved on to their singles rubbers, with Flynn winning convincingly 6-0, 6-0 and Gabriel also bringing Stamford a win, 6-3,6-1 in a match which he found challenging at times. Edward and Will communicated fabulously in their doubles partnership and showed themselves to be an excellent doubles pairing, winning 6-0, 6-0.

With two points awarded for each rubber won, the final score line was a 12-0 win for Stamford.  Captain Jenny Hall was delighted with the team’s performance saying afterwards   ‘Congratulations to all players; thanks to parents for their continued support and to Sleaford for their hospitality.’
