Stamford 14U Girls Finish Runners Up to Boston

Boston and Stamford's 14U GirlsMatch Report from Team Captain, Judy Dallas, “The Stamford U14 Aegon girls team faced their last match of the season against an unbeaten Boston team on Sunday 19th June. On the way to the match I received a call from their captain to say that only 3 Boston girls were playing, therefore we would be playing 3 singles rubbers and 1 doubles rubber.  The upside of this was Stamford already had 4 of the 12 points available in the bag.  Annabel, Evie and Maisie, as the top ranked players, played the singles matches but sadly lost all 3 to stronger opponents.  Evie put up a good fight in her match but was just pipped at the post by a 10-7 tiebreak in the 3rd set.  We were then pinning our hopes on Ella and Katie’s doubles match.  The first set was very tight and the Stamford girls were playing some fantastic ground strokes, however they lost to a strong, match experienced, pair and so Stamford ended the afternoon, where they had begun, with 4 points.  I am very proud of our team putting in good competitive performances over our 3 fixtures and I wish all the girls moving up to U16 good luck for next year and keep competing!”
