Stamford’s Felix Beech won the Stamford U12s ratings tournament with a classy display of power and accuracy. Felix thrashed Tristan Grewcock(Oakham) and Elliot Bero(Boston) for the loss of only one game before a close final with Robert Green(Leicester). The first set was a hard hitting affair with Robert at times out slugging Felix in long baseline rallies. Felix came through 6-3 by being a little smarter than his opponent with Felix showing the use of angles and great feel on the drop shot. The second set tie Break brought out the best tennis of the match and the best form Felix as he ran out the winner.

In the reverse side of the draw Stamfords Alfie Ramsey manged to battle through to a creditable 5th place. Alfie was involved in the longest match of tournamen. A 10-6 third set tie break win over Tristan Grewcock(Oakham).

Well done to felix and Alfie you have made Stamford TC and R2R Tennis proud!

In the boys under 14s Stamfords Will Bourne lost in the Final to Ben Nevill(Loughborough) 6-1 6-2 but beat the highly rated Mark Jarrett(Nottingham) on the 6-0 7-5. Will pleased the crowd with his stylish play and possess a single handed topspin backhand as smooth as federer’s. Ben was just too steady in the final for Will.

In the boys U14 Reverse draw the Ice cool Stamford’s Matthew Baynham upset the form book by beating Jamie Gregory(Corby) and Alex Bero(Boston) to claim 5th spot. Well done boys.
